FATES HOLLOW DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW.

Progressive Alt-Rock Act, Fates Hollow, are set to release their debut album ‘The Heir Apparition Part  1 - Broken Crowns’ on September 3rd 2024.

According to our partners, Mosaic Music, this debut release is the first half of a double concept album and that ‘Part 1 - Broken Crowns’ is a narrative-driven collection of songs following a story of a young Prince through his death, rebirth and revenge on the man who killed him.

The entire album is heavily inspired by 1960s science fiction, 1980s pop rock, musical theatre and modern day alternative rock. Outside of the story concept of the album, Part 1 also takes inspiration from vocalist Reece Warburtons own life, from his troubled relationship with his own absent father to overcoming the fear of death after being diagnosed with a heart condition at a young age. Bringing both fantasy and real life inspirations together, to create an inspiring, emotional and unique sound that is Fates Hollow.

Lead Vocalist & Guitarist, Reece Warburton, spoke to Mosaic Music about the debut release:

“When I first had the idea for The Heir Apparition, it was just one song. The opening track, The King And The Killer. We started working on that song with the idea of throwing it in our live set, but the more time we spent with it, the more ideas I began to have about a possible storyline, and over a period of around eight months, it all came together in my head. Sometimes when a band is working with a narrative it can feel like you've painted yourself into a corner, creatively, but with this project I felt incredibly liberated. It just felt like what we were supposed to do. During the making of this album my grandfather sadly passed away, and we had a cancer scare in the family. Both of these things influenced me to really put everything into it, I wanted to make them proud. Broken Crowns will always be intertwined with those things, for me. I put a lot of myself into this story, it's obviously a very fictional and fantastical picture we've painted but a lot of what makes it tick comes from a very real place." - Reece, Vocals/Guitars

The band performed their debut album 'The Heir Apparition Part 1 - Broken Crowns' in full at their launch show at Lock 91, Manchester on 8th September 2024 and they absolutely blew us away with their performance. Check out our full live review here.

Novacaine Rating: 10/10 “Fates Hollow has crafted a fantastical release that sounds like nothing else currently out there. Part 1 - Broken Crowns is just the beginning and we cannot wait to see what they have plucked from their imagination for Part 2!”
