Southampton metal-core outfit Parting With Origin dropped their first single, The Fragile Space, on March 7, 2025—their first release since the 2023 EP We All Wear Our Curses.
The band had an incredibly busy 2024, touring across the UK, playing a sold-out hometown headliner, and even taking the EMP stage at Bloodstock Open Air.
According to the band, things behind the scenes have been noticeably more fragile compared to their strong UK touring presence.
"This busy period had also been the bedding-in time for new vocalist, Dan Mannix. The stress of adapting to a new frontman while relentlessly touring proved to be a [challenge]. So, after a winter touring break to focus on new music, Parting With Origin are back with their first single—written about that exact stress and struggle."
This song is a culmination of personal experience that a lot of people can relate to; mental struggles and stress, grown from day to day life. Vocalist Dan says that The Fragile Space is
"Our own mind space; the way we perceive ourselves, and those around us. The song takes that and blends it with the metaphor of space itself, the looming panic subtlety represented by a black hole within the lyrics" - Dan Mannix (Vocalist)
The song is written from the perspective of someone who's been through these struggles, and trying to guide someone else through. There's a repeating line throughout the song "Walk with me" as well as a lot of lyrics using "We" to emphasise that nobody has to suffer alone.
There's almost a back-and-forth between the chorus and verse lyrics; chaos and harmony, pain and acceptance, isolation and support.
Novacaine Rating: 10/10
"Parting With Origin are pouring their hearts out, proving that there’s no shame in speaking about your struggles. Stepping into an already established band with a strong UK touring presence is a heavy burden to bear—especially when also taking the stage at major events like Bloodstock Open Air Festival.
With The Fragile Space, they've not only channeled their personal experiences but have crafted a song that resonates with our own struggles in life. And on top of that, it’s an absolute belter of a track!" - Scott O'Shea
